A report has been filed against a man who allegedly breached a five-day sick leave to visit Waterway Point with his friends and posted it on Instagram, police told AsiaOne on May 11.

The man’s transgressions first caught the eye online after screenshots of his Instagram story were posted on the All Singapore Stuff Facebook page on May 10.

According to the screenshots, which have since been removed, the man received the medical certificate (MC) on May 8 at Health First Family Clinic in Jalan Membina.

Apparently unhappy with the broadcast of a five-day MC, he wrote, “I just want today’s MC. Why are you giving me five days? Dude, even you gave me five days. I can’t use the [sic]”

In addition, in the image that the man published, the MC stated that the law required him to stay at home.

Since February, doctors have been recommended to issue five days of medical leave to patients with respiratory symptoms such as fever and cough.

Under the Infectious Diseases Act, those issued with such CMs must remain at home throughout the period. Those who do not comply face a fine of up to $ 10,000, up to six months in prison, or both.

However, the man allegedly shared several Instagram stories from Waterway Point after receiving the MC, writing in a mixture of Chinese and English: “The first time I visited Singapore’s Punggol. It is [circuit breaker] but many people still like to visit NTUC. No wonder so many confirmed cases haha [sic]”
