A 41-year-old man was arrested yesterday (September 1) for allegedly robbing a private bus, police said in a press release today.

Police were first notified on August 28 after the victim noticed her bus was missing where it was parked in a parking lot along Woodlands Highway.

Officers from the Woodlands Police Division and Jurong Police Division established the suspect’s identity through ground-based investigations, with the help of police footage and CCTV cameras.

After his arrest, the man will be charged in court tomorrow for the crime of motor vehicle theft.

If convicted, he will face a jail term of up to seven years and a fine.

Police reminded the public to park their vehicles in well-lit areas, as well as to install a burglar alarm system to prevent vehicle-related crime from occurring.

Vehicle owners are also advised to remove the ignition key and lock their vehicles whenever they are left unattended.
