SINGAPORE: The Land Transportation Authority (LTA) seized seven unregistered motorcycles and one all-terrain vehicle (ATV) during a enforcement operation around Hun Yeang Road and Tampines Avenue on Sunday (October 4).

“We also identified a number of other offenses, such as illegal vehicle modifications and driving against the flow of traffic,” LTA said Thursday in response to inquiries from the CNA. “LTA takes a very serious view of such crimes.”

The operation had the support of the Traffic Police. LTA did not say if the operation was routine or if it was acting on a warning.

On Sunday, Facebook user Jerome Jeronimo posted a photo showing what appear to be LTA law enforcement officers talking to passengers.

“For those of you who have been actively posting photos and videos of your local off-road tours on various social media platforms, I would like to congratulate you wholeheartedly,” the user wrote.

Photos posted on the SG Road Vigilante Facebook group show off-road bikes and an ATV loaded onto a tow truck.

“We would like to remind the public that all motorized vehicles must be LTA registered and have their license plates prominently displayed before they can be stored or used on the public roads of Singapore,” LTA said.

Those caught keeping or using an unregistered vehicle on the public highway for the first time can be fined up to S $ 2,000, jailed for up to three months, or both. Repeat offenders can be fined up to S $ 5,000, jailed for up to six months, or both.
