Liverpool star Mohamed Salah tested positive for Covid-19.

The Egyptian is on international duty where he was due to play Togo in a qualifier for the African Cup of Nations on Saturday night in Cairo, before the reverse match on Tuesday.

But now he will isolate himself after his positive test. The Egyptian FA confirmed that Salah does not suffer from any symptoms.

They said in a statement: “The medical survey conducted in our first mission of the national soccer team showed that our international player Mohamed Salah [of] Liverpool got infected with the coronavirus after their poll came back positive.

“Although he does not present any symptoms, the rest of the team tested negative.

Our international star was subjected to the medical protocol after the coordination of the national team doctor, Dr. Mohamed Abu Alala, with his English club Liverpool.

“In addition to isolating him inside his room and also isolating everyone involved, our star will undergo further testing in the next few hours.”

Salah’s positive test comes just days after he attended his brother Nasr’s wedding in the country’s capital, Cairo.

Mahmoud Trezeguet, who plays for Aston Villa, was also present, but his test came back negative.

He has 10 strikes in 13 games in all competitions in total, having helped Liverpool to their first top-flight title in the last 30 years.
