Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp admits he had a furious fight with Andrew Robertson.
Robertson will make his 100th Premier League appearance with the Reds against Sheffield United in a career at Anfield that has already elevated him alongside some of the club’s all-time best players at his position.
“Excellent! Mr. Robertson, 100 Premier League games for Liverpool. If I go back to when you got here, it’s a wonderful story, and it has really established itself (at the top level),” said the coach.
“I really, really like him as a person, and I really work with him because he is a brilliant character and a super player.
“I think we had a few words on the sideline in Amsterdam – I was yelling at him like the devil and Robbo’s character is that he can’t fully contain himself from (not) responding!
“But he is also like me, the game is over and everything is fine as long as you stick together, so everything is fine.”
That incident occurred at the end of the game against Ajax when Liverpool clung to a major victory.
And Klopp revealed some hilarious details about Barney, as he insisted that Robertson’s character will be a vital part of Liverpool … as they prepare to entertain Sheffield United without their talisman.
“Do I like it when they reply? It’s not normally a conversation! This game was not about exchanging information, it was about kicking their butt into doing it, “he explained.
“Robbo received a proper blow to the chest, making it difficult for him to breathe. And human beings are like that, you feel a little sorry for yourself or self-pity, and someone should say ‘call to talk about that after the final whistle. ‘And that was my job.
“Unfortunately Robbo was by my side. And yes, so I yelled at him just as loudly as I yelled at Shaqiri on the other side of the field, and it was obviously different (and he reacted)! “
