Liverpool are said to have launched an “informal offer” for an elite defender who Jurgen Klopp considers a “very, very suitable partner for Virgil van Dijk”.

Liverpool they have endured a tumultuous defense of their Premier League crown. The Reds topped the table in December despite injuries devastating their team. Since then, however, a prolonged series of bad form has seen the title tilt collapse.

The biggest factor behind his losing streak has been injuries, particularly at center-back.

Van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip are in the midst of long absences. Even makeshift center halves Fabinho and Jordan Henderson have spent time on the treatment table.

Attention has begun to turn to the next season in the domestic sphere, with the greatest doubt about who will arrive.

Ozan Kabak could see his loan move made permanent, but the irregular shape so far seems to indicate that this will not be the case.

A highly successful signing would calm the nerves of Liverpool fans, and their wish may soon be granted.

Ian McGarry from Transfer Window Podcast (Through the Fast) has revealed that an initial offer of £ 34.2 million plus add-ons has been submitted for the Napoli ace Kalidou koulibaly.

The 29-year-old Senegalese has been one of the best center-backs in European football in the last five years.

Kalidou Koulibaly TEAMtalk

He has has long been linked to a headline-grabbing move to the Premier Leagueand it seems that Liverpool is determined to make Anfield their new home.

“They have had a long-standing interest in Napoli center-back Kalidou Koulibaly, which we have reported in detail over the last year,” McGarry said.

“We understand that an informal offer has been made to start with € 40 million (£ 34.2 million) plus player add-ons, which is certainly available.

“Certainly, Jurgen Klopp sees him as a very, very suitable partner for Virgil van Dijk. He is expected to return before the start of next season and also do preseason with Liverpool.

“Koulibaly has had interest from Manchester City and Manchester United, but Liverpool seem to be leading the race now in a low price market for a player. Okay, he’s 29 years old, but that also gives him the advantage of experience.

“He will be able to start working on getting into a new club.”

Liverpool allays concerns about the duo’s future

Liverpool meanwhile are not worried about the future of Mohamed Salah or Jurgen Klopp, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed.

Questions have been raised this season about Klopp’s future as a coach amid Liverpool’s struggles to defend their title. It is unlikely that he will be fired, but the availability of the position in Germany has sparked new rumors. As for Salah, his ties to Real Madrid are persistent.

Salah has been one of Liverpool’s best players since arriving from Roma in 2017. The Egyptian international has scored more than 100 goals for the club.

His form, however, has seen him regularly linked to an exit from Liverpool. He definitely has the ability to play for a European giant like Real Madrid.

However, Romano has now quashed those rumors by revealing that Mbappé could still extend his contract with PSG. Furthermore, the chances of Salah leaving Liverpool are slim.

Romano wrote for Bench heaters: “Kylian Mbappé has not started negotiations with Liverpool so far despite the rumors.

“To date, the priority is to negotiate with Paris Saint-Germain the renewal of the contract; Only then will his future be decided with PSG president Nasser Al Khelaifi, who is doing everything possible to convince Kylian. He wants more than 25 million euros per season after taxes.

“Liverpool, on the other hand, are convinced that they can keep Mohamed Salah. Soon they will also have to talk about the fact that their contract expires in June 2023 but there is no problem with the club ”.

Regarding Klopp, the transfer guru added: “Speaking of Liverpool, the board is planning the transfer market with Jurgen Klopp and is not afraid of a possibility linked to the German national team.

“There have been no contacts; the desire to make him heir to Joachim Low has not yet developed. “
