A 22-year-old student from Hong Kong died from the 10th floor of her dorm on Monday morning (September 14).

She was found immobile at the foot of the Selegie home around 5.04 am and a paramedic pronounced her dead at the scene, police told AsiaOne.

Speaking with Lianhe Zaobao, a student staying in the dorm explained that since most people were attending classes online, few would have been awake when the incident occurred. While he and his roommates slept, neither of them realized what happened.

“It was only after I woke up and saw the police cars and an ambulance that I realized something had happened.”

According to a cleaner who works in the dormitory, male and female students are separated on different levels and are generally grouped according to their schools.

The deceased, who was not identified, was a student at Lasalle College of the Arts, which is about a five to ten minute walk from the dormitory.

In response to inquiries from the Chinese newspaper, Centurion Corporation, which runs the Selegie home, said they were aware of the incident.

They have already contacted the victim’s guardians and are providing assistance to her family, they added.

In response to the newspaper’s inquiries, a Lasalle spokesman said it was inappropriate to comment further on the matter, as police investigations into the unnatural death case are ongoing.
