Speaking after the game, Klopp told reporters: “That was a performance that we needed tonight. My guys played an amazing game, the front line defending and attacking was outstanding.
“Top level, last line pushing up and knowing the threat Atalanta can cause. You won a game 5-0, you were able to score more goals, but our goalkeeper still had three world-class saves to make. Overall a really good game.
“It’s about the players, it was tough against us tonight, I don’t think anyone could have defended against Sadio Mane, Mo Salah and Diogo Jota, so it wasn’t about tactics or our system, it was about the team.
“90% of my players have three games in the international break, my players are still on duty. After [Man] City this weekend, only I have a week off. But we have to recover now and we will need it. Then we can see who is available and City is a different team so we need to make sure we are ready for that. “
Jota has shown once again that he has the ability to break into the top three. It will be interesting to see if it starts on Roberto Firmino on the weekend.
