Liverpool youngster Rhys Williams has returned to Merseyside from England under-21s early after complaining of a hip problem.

Three Lions manager Aidy Boothroyd confirmed the problem Tuesday amid his team’s clash with Albania.

However, the coach insisted that the central problem, and his return, was only a precaution at this time.

“He had very mild hip stiffness,” Boothroyd said (via Sky Sports News). “The best thing for him was that he Liverpool.

“With all the players, if there are possible injuries or discomfort, our medical staff is in contact with the club.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp would likely be in favor of pairing the Brazilian with Joel Matip. However, although he will return soon, his immediate physical condition remains unclear.

As such, Nathaniel Phillips will likely start alongside Matip, meaning Williams would have a key presence in the bank.

Elsewhere in defense, right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold will definitely miss out on Anfield. The English international suffered a calf problem in the last game against Manchester City.

Meanwhile, there are also doubts about the physical form of left back Andy Robertson. The Scotland international also has a hamstring problem, but I could be back in time to face the Foxes.

Captain Jordan Henderson could also be in good shape after he left England’s loss to Belgium early with a back problem.

Amid Liverpool’s defensive woes, several experts have asked Klopp to enter the January transfer market in search of reinforcements.

Reportedly among the coach’s targets is Schalke’s Malick Thiaw.

In fact, the young man has now spoken out about such ties before a possible move.
