A string of bullying allegations against South Korean stars have surfaced in the past week, and nearly all deny them.

However, Hyunjin from the K-pop boy band Stray Kids has come forward to apologize, and his management agency has indefinitely suspended all of his promotional activities.

JYP Entertainment said in a statement on Saturday (February 27), “Hyunjin will take the time to reflect on himself after stopping all his activities as a celebrity. He sincerely regrets and is reflecting on the fact that he hurt various people. in high school with his harsh and inappropriate words.

“He has sincerely apologized to those who were injured and is doing everything he can to help those people heal from those injuries.”

On February 22, an anonymous poster had accused Hyunjin, 20, of verbal abuse and being violent towards him or her during high school, when they were teenagers.

Four days later, following the investigation of the allegations by JYP Entertainment, which included meeting the accuser and interviewing others, such as former teachers and fellow students, Hyunjin apologized in person.

He also posted an extensive handwritten apology letter on Instagram.

“First of all, I sincerely apologize to those who were hurt by my inappropriate actions during my school years. Looking back at the times when I lacked the most, I am ashamed and have no excuse,” he wrote.

He added, “Whether it was intended or not, I don’t think I can be forgiven at all for causing someone unforgettable pain.”

Other celebrities who have been accused of bullying in the past week include The Uncanny Counter (2020 to 2021) actor Jo Byung-gyu, Soojin from the girl group (G) I_DLE, Mingyu from the boy group Seventeen, Extracurricular actor (2020) Kim Dong-hee, Monsta X’s Kihyun, and former IOI member Kim So-hye.

All have denied the allegations.
