Henderson was included in the six-person roster after a year that saw him become Liverpool’s first captain to lift the Premier League title, ending the club’s 30-year wait for the top flight crown.
Off the field, the England international has received widespread praise for his support and contribution to community causes, including vital donations to food banks in Merseyside.
He also played a central role in creating the #PlayersTogether initiative, which sees Premier League footballers raise funds for NHS Charities Together in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
At the BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards on Sunday night, Henderson accepted the Team of the year award on behalf of the Premier League champions.
