SINGAPORE – Jem, Westgate, Mustafa Center and the ICA building are among the places visited by Covid-19 patients while they were infectious, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said on Friday (October 30).

The Health Ministry confirmed nine new cases of coronavirus on Friday (October 30), bringing Singapore’s total to 58,003.

An asymptomatic 20-year-old man was the only community case. The permanent resident was detected when he conducted a Covid-19 test prior to departure on Oct. 27 ahead of a planned trip to India.

The permanent resident had been in India in July and August this year, and had served a 14-day stay-at-home notice (SHN) at a dedicated facility when he returned to Singapore on August 28. He tested negative for Covid-19 while serving at SHN. . His serological test taken on October 29 is positive and epidemiological investigations are underway to determine if this could be a past infection.

There were seven imported cases, including one permanent resident, one long-term visitor pass holder, three work pass holders, one work permit holder, and one special pass holder.

The permanent resident is a 57-year-old man who returned from Italy, while the long-term visitor pass holder is a 22-year-old woman who traveled from Bangladesh.

Of the three work pass holders, two returned from Belgium and one returned from the United States.

The holder of the work permit is a 33-year-old man who returned from Bangladesh.

The holder of the special pass is a 37-year-old man who traveled from the Philippines. All imported cases were placed at SHN upon arrival in Singapore. They were assessed while serving their SHNs in specialized facilities, although all were asymptomatic.

A migrant worker living in a bedroom was the remaining case.

The number of new cases in the community has risen from two cases two weeks ago to four last week, the Health Ministry added.

The number of unrelated cases in the community in one week also increased from one to four in the same period.

With 10 cases discharged on Friday, 57,894 patients have made a full recovery from the disease.

A total of 42 patients remain hospitalized, none in intensive care, while 24 recover in community facilities.

Singapore has had 28 deaths from Covid-19 complications, while 15 who tested positive have died from other causes.
