‘What does José gain by exposing that performance in the press?’: Jamie O’Hara side with Dele Alli and says that José Mourinho is ‘KILLING his confidence’ and runs the risk of ‘totally losing him’ afterwards of his tantrum on the touchline

Jamie O’Hara criticized José Mourinho for his dealings with Dele Alli after the Tottenham manager singled out the striker following a 3-1 Carabao Cup quarter-final victory over Stoke.

Mourinho gave Alli his first start since Nov. 26 at the bet365 Stadium, but replaced the England international in the second half, blaming him for giving away the ball before Jordan Thompson tied.

Alli reacted angrily to being substituted and a discontent Mourinho confirmed that the feeling was mutual.

The decision to publicly admonish Alli after the game did not sit well with former Spurs midfielder O’Hara, who believes the ongoing criticism is ‘killing’ the player’s confidence.

O’Hara insists that Mourinho needs to tell Alli if he’s in his plans or not rather than “dig up” the 24-year-old.

“ When you go out and you are taking a player out of the press, I think you need to help him. ” O’Hara said talkSPORT. ‘What do you gain by going to the press and digging up that one performance?

‘It’s only killing her confidence more. It’s an investment and an asset to the club and whether it’s in your plans or not, you don’t want to kill their trust so much that you lose it entirely.

“I did not like the way Mourinho took it out and continues to highlight it. I think Mourinho is doing a great job and has the team on his side, but, for me, it doesn’t sit well with the way he keeps digging up Dele Alli.

Even if you’re going to kick him out, just say “they don’t like you” and “he’s not in my plans.” If you’re killing his confidence and saying “he’s not for me” and you’re just investigating his performance, then surely you’re devaluing the player. ‘

Most of the time, Alli has found himself on the bench this season, while in some games he has not even been in Mourinho’s team of the day.

It’s a huge fall from grace for the attacker who became one of the Premier League’s most sought-after players with Mauricio Pochettino.

However, after looking like he had played his way back into contention, Alli’s latest showdown with Mourinho casts further doubts about his future at the club.

Sportsmail revealed earlier this month that Paris Saint-Germain, who failed with three loan offers for Alli in the summer, is preparing to renew their efforts to sign the midfielder believing Spurs are finally ready to sanction his departure.

But Alli, however, has not been informed of the club’s plans for him when the transfer window reopens in just 10 days.

Mourinho appeared to be reintegrating Alli into his plans with his recent cameo against Crystal Palace and Leicester, and then giving him a start against the Potters.

However, the Special was particularly unhappy with Alli’s role in Stoke’s target, which ultimately led to their dispute.

“We got caught on the fast break, so yeah, I was upset,” said the Spurs coach, who has increasingly sidelined Alli during his 13 months in office.

“A player who plays in that position has to be a player who links and creates, not one who creates problems for his team on the counterattack.

In that situation, when they were able to counterattack behind our defense, we were off balance. Our wings were wide open and a midfielder was also out of position ”.
