JAKARTA (THE JAKARTA POST / ASIA NEWS NETWORK) – Indonesia’s largest airport, Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, is providing special lanes for passengers traveling between Indonesia and Singapore, as the two countries agreed to establish a travel corridor to facilitate diplomatic missions and essential business. excursions.

The travel agreement, called the reciprocal green lane (RGL), will go into effect next Monday (October 26).

“We have provided various checkpoints for passengers traveling on the Indonesia-Singapore route within the RGL scheme,” PT Angkasa Pura II state airport director Muhammad Awaluddin said in a statement on Sunday (October 18).

He said the deal would adhere to strict Covid-19 health protocols.

Travelers using the special lanes will need to go through thermal scanners at the terminals before stopping at a check-in counter, where they must show a negative polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test that is valid for 72 hours.

They must then verify their health through the electronic health alert card (e-HAC) app before they are allowed to board the plane.

Meanwhile, for arriving travelers, Mr. Awaluddin said that as soon as they arrived at the arrivals terminal, they would have to pass the check-in clearance through e-HAC, which they completed on departure.

They then have to pass the immigration and customs counters before reaching the PCR testing area.

If they test negative, they are allowed to continue their trip to Indonesia.

However, if the PCR test is positive, the traveler must be quarantined.

Earlier, Foreign Minister Retno LP Marsudi said the travel corridor was limited to urgent business and diplomatic trips and did not cover tourism.

According to the ministry, Indonesian citizens wishing to enter Singapore through the corridor will be required to have official sponsors from Singapore’s state agencies and companies, as well as a secure travel pass.

Similarly, Singaporean citizens traveling to Indonesia will need to have official sponsors from Indonesian state departments and business entities, in addition to a visa.

The agreement has established two routes for the travel corridor, one between Soekarno-Hatta International Airport and Changi International Airport, and the other between the Batam Ferry Terminal and the Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal.

The two countries agreed on certain procedures to ensure compliance with health protocols, Retno said.

For example, travelers are required to perform two PCR tests: one within 72 hours before departure and one upon arrival at the airport or ferry terminal.

“The results of the pre-departure tests will be published by mutually recognized healthcare institutions,” added Ms Retno.

The Indonesian government previously established travel corridors with the United Arab Emirates and South Korea to grant freedom of action to both countries’ state departments and companies, allowing them to reconnect and resume projects that were halted as a result of the pandemic while continuing to comply. with health standards.
