It’s starting to look a lot like Christmas: Walk of Lights released at Gardens by the Bay, Singapore News & Top Stories

SINGAPORE – Despite colder weather in the coming weeks, Singapore is unlikely to have a white Christmas this year.

Still, it is possible to find some festive cheer in the form of a series of light shows running at Gardens By the Bay through December 27.

Titled “Walk of Lights”, the event was launched on Friday night (December 4) by Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Heng Swee Keat, with the push of a button to light a large multi-colored Christmas tree made entirely of lights.

It is organized by Christmas Wonderland and will feature eight large lighting installations, including the 17m high Spalliera, a huge multi-colored structure crafted from white wood, under which visitors can stand.

This is the seventh edition of the annual event, which this year will require reservations in specific time slots to control the size of the crowd in accordance with the safe management measures of Covid-19.

Still, despite the duller atmosphere of this year’s end-of-year festivities, organizers hope the light shows can bring people together.

Blue Sky Events Director Sarah Martin said in her launch speech: “Light has been a source of inspiration and a powerful unifying symbol for hundreds of years.

“This year, we hope that our Paseo de las Luces will improve and unite communities in a safe way, and pay tribute to the resilience of all times.”

Advance reservation is required for the event and tickets can only be purchased online.

Tickets are $ 5 each, and the event is open from 6.30 pm to 11 pm every night with the last entry at 10.30 pm
