When stomper Anonymous he heard a loud sound at the foot of his block in Pasir Ris, he immediately went to see it.
Turns out a pipe joint had come off and the Stomper noticed water flowing everywhere.
The incident, which occurred in Block 229 Pasir Ris Street 21 on November 9 at 11 p.m., was recorded on video.
In the video, the sounds of flowing water can be heard in the background as some passersby gather to watch.
“This happened at 11 pm and lasted about an hour,” Anonymous said.
“I heard a loud sound and realized it sounded like super heavy rain, but ten times louder than that.
“We stayed at level 12, so I couldn’t tell what was going on. My husband ended up going down the stairs just to see what happened while my baby was sleeping.
“I feel like this problem could have been stopped earlier so as not to waste so much water and not affect my baby’s sleep.”
In response to a query from Stomp, a Pasir Ris-Punggol City Council spokesperson said: “We wish to clarify that the pipe joint eviction incident was not a burst pipe and that it was reported on November 9 at around 11.30 p.m”.
The spokesperson added that the city council ensured that all residents of the affected block had access to emergency water supply within three hours of receiving comments.
“The rectifications to retract the pipe joint were also completed on November 10 before 9 am,” the spokesperson said.
