I had to help, says the nurse who treated the victim of the fight at Clarke Quay, Singapore News

When she heard a scream and saw blood on the catwalk as they left The Central @ Clarke Quay on December 19, Ms. Nurlydia Abdul Razak had only one thought.

A woman was injured on a nearby walkway after a fight involving more than 10 people, and the nurse knew she had to step up and help.

What he didn’t expect was that the videos of her on the scene would go viral, with family, friends and even colleagues asking if she was involved in the altercation.

So far, 12 people have been charged for their alleged involvement in the fight, which occurred around 10.35 p.m. outside The Tipsy Cow bar and bistro at 6 Eu Tong Sen Street.

Three people were injured in the fight, including a woman, 27, and her partner, 36.

Speaking to The New Paper on Tuesday last week, Nurlydia, 30, a mother of two young children, said she, her husband and some friends were celebrating a birthday at The Tipsy Cow when they heard the commotion.

They left as fast as they could, but as they walked away, they heard screams.

The sister-in-law of Mrs. Nurlydia’s friend was also a nurse, so they ran.

Ms Nurlydia said: “Out of fear (that the fighters were still there or would come back), another friend told me not to go. I told him we had to help, if not, why did we become nurses? I don’t feel good “.

He said the injured woman was bleeding from a wound on her right arm, so the nurses raised her arm and wore a shirt to stop the bleeding.

They kept asking her questions as the woman slipped in and out of consciousness.

“He said he had just gotten married,” added Nurlydia.

She said that the woman’s husband was standing up, so no one realized he was hurt too until he suddenly lay down.

“It was so dark and he was wearing black. But his shirt was soaked in blood. When the paramedics arrived, we told them to treat him first,” he said.

Even with five years of experience as a nurse, including some time in operating rooms, the aftermath of the fight was a first for Nurlydia.

“It was pretty scary. It was the first time I had so much blood on me. Even the next day, I felt like I could still smell it.”

Shortly after the incident, people started calling her and sending her viral videos, in which she is seen yelling at her friends to stay away while telling her to leave the venue.

She said: “At work, some of my colleagues saw the video and asked me about it. So I decided to inform my supervisor. Even my nieces and nephews saw the video on TikTok.

“It was so embarrassing.”

But when asked if she would step forward again, Nurlydia was unequivocal.

“Even if (I’m no longer) a nurse, it would still help … but next time I won’t yell.”
