Have PlayStation 5 fans been mistakenly blocked by Sony Singapore from ordering the console?

If you have tried to reserve the Playstation 5 in Singapore but i haven’t been lucky, well you’re not the only one. Retail partners are reporting that their pre-orders are full and we’ve even seen resellers trying to cash in on what is possibly the launch of a more popular new console in the last decade.

But if some of you are trying to order the console directly from Sony Singapore, well, you’re in for a big surprise as Singaporeans have had trouble pre-ordering it from Sony Singapore. less than people from outside the country.

How is this so? If you tried to access the site in the last few days around 11am, you would have discovered that Singapore IP addresses are somehow blocked when trying to reserve a PS5. This “preventive measure” prevents consumers from having the opportunity to get their hands on Sony’s new console on launch day.

If you were to try to pre-order using a Singaporean IP address, you would normally end up seeing this on your screen. This can happen even if it is your first time accessing the site at 11am. M .:

It seems that no amount of soda would be enough for some. Yes one did They manage to click correctly and go all the way to enter their address and payment method, however they would end up with this screen in the final step:

Frustrating? Yes, and we can attest to it.

However, there seems to be a way around this, and that is to use a VPN to trick Sony’s website into thinking you’re buying from outside of Singapore (great irony, we know). As it will not be shipped overseas, you can ship it to your local address.

However, we do not believe it is Sony’s fault. Most likely in an attempt to block multiple page updates from the same IP, but somehow ended up blocking everyone running on the same ISP. If this is Sony’s way of preventing bots from ordering outright, that’s a great move, but it has somehow led to not allowing a large number of legitimate customers in Singapore to order. GG.

Unless Sony fixes this, it’s like you have to climb up the garbage dump just to get into your own house – unpleasant but necessary. However, it is not your fault. In this case, we recommend using ExpressVPN or NordVPN if you want to try this method before the LAST and FINAL pre-order date on September 22nd.

In any case, for the more legal guys, it won’t be long before more PlayStation 5 stocks hit the shores of Singapore after its launch on November 19. Fresh stocks are expected to arrive in mid-December, just in time for the holiday season.

Patience is sometimes a virtue, but so is resourcefulness.
