SINGAPORE – Walking, biking and kayaking tours will be able to accommodate up to 20 people starting November 1. The number is twice the current limit.

But tours will still be subject to prevailing social gathering sizes, meaning that 20 people must be divided into four groups, with no intermixing allowed, the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) said in an update on Monday (May 19). October).

The size of the larger group will support the tourism industry and allow more Singaporeans to rediscover their home through unique tourism experiences, the STB said.

All licensed travel agents and tour operators can now resume on-site operations as well, although tour itineraries and times have yet to be submitted for approval.

Tour operators and tour guides have been allowed to resume operations starting in July on a case-by-case basis, subject to the approval of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

Those planning to restart operations at the site must submit the number of workers who will do so through the GoBusiness portal within two weeks of resuming, the tourism board said.

Meanwhile, STB said it signed a two-year marketing partnership with online travel agency Expedia to support the ongoing domestic tourism campaign and promote Singapore to target foreign markets as international travel resumes.

The alliance will include a selection of stays and local deals packages on the Expedia website from now until April next year.

Campaigns and promotions will also be gradually rolled out to encourage visitors from Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, the United Arab Emirates, Germany, France, Switzerland, Canada, Great Britain and the United States.

STB’s assistant executive director of her marketing group, Lynette Pang, said the partnership with Expedia will help local businesses reach new customers when global travel returns.

“In the immediate term, we will encourage locals to rediscover their neighborhoods and precincts, and to support their favorite businesses safely and responsibly,” he said.
