(Reuters) – Georgia’s Republican secretary of state said on Wednesday there were still no signs of widespread fraud in the vote count in his state, where Democratic President-elect Joe Biden currently holds a 14,000-vote lead over President Donald Trump. .

Brad Raffensperger, in an interview with CNN, said that he ordered a manual recount due to the closeness of the vote count, but that he believed that the votes thus far had been accurately counted. Biden’s current lead, with nearly all votes counted, is 0.3%.

When asked about voter fraud, Raffensperger said: “We have ongoing investigations, but we haven’t seen anything widespread.” He added that there was still no evidence of discrepancies large enough to reverse Biden’s advantage.

Raffensperger said he also believes that a manual count, which he wants to be completed by Nov. 20, will not override the machine count that is nearing completion. “We believe the ballots were accurately counted,” he said.

Georgia’s recount will take place as Republican Trump, who has refused to grant the election to Biden, went ahead with legal challenges in several states to try to change the outcome.
