SINGAPORE – Visitors to Gardens by the Bay will be able to enjoy the full suite of its sound and light show beginning this Friday (January 8) as Singapore moves on to phase three of its reopening.

Garden Rhapsody, the popular sound and light show at the Supertree Grove main attraction, will return to its original 7.45pm and 8.45pm slots every night, Gardens by the Bay said Monday.

The show had been stopped during the circuit breaker last year and the two shows were replaced by relaxing background music and soft lighting in September.

The show, which sees the lights of 12 super trees moving to the rhythm of a musical soundtrack, is free and lasts 15 minutes.

There are 11 shows scheduled for this year, The Gardens said in a statement. This month, visitors will be able to experience Garden Waltz, a compilation of waltz music by famous composers such as Grande Valse Brilliante by Frederic Chopin and By The Beautiful Blue Danube by Johann Strauss Junior.

Safety and safe distancing officers will be in place to ensure safe management measures are followed, such as wearing masks and maintaining a safe distance.

Gardens by the Bay Senior Director of Programming and Events Chua Yen Ling said: “Singapore has weathered a difficult 2020 and we hope this new year will be better for everyone. Garden Rhapsody is free for everyone and with security measures in place We hope that our visitors not only enjoy the show, but also get a morale boost as they immerse themselves in the magical atmosphere of our magnificent Super Trees. “

In a separate statement, the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) said the Merlion will be closed for two days on Thursday and Friday for routine cleaning and maintenance work.

The STB said Monday that the main statue in Merlion Park on Fullerton Road will be bricked up and will not be available for photography while construction is in progress.

He added: “We seek the understanding of the public, as the works and barricades may cause some inconvenience during this period.”
