SINGAPORE – National Military Ready to Operate (NSmen) family members will have free membership in Safra and HomeTeamNS, with waived fees for secondary and subsequent dependents.
Applicants will also not have to pay the $ 10 administrative fee for each registration, from now until March 31 of next year.
This new family membership scheme for Safra and HomeTeamNS aims to promote family ties, Safra Minister of State for Defense and President Zaqy Mohamad said on Saturday (October 3).

Only the first dependent has to pay to be a member. Men pay from $ 80 for a Safra membership and from $ 40 for their first dependent.
The HomeTeamNS membership fee starts from $ 50 for NSmen and from $ 20 for the first dependent. Only spouses of NS men and their children under the age of 20 can register as dependents under this new regime.
At Safra, the pool of dependent members is expected to double to 150,000 in the next five years with this scheme.
HomeTeamNS estimates that its number of dependent members will grow to 75,000 in the next five years, up from 18,000 today.
Mr. Zaqy said that Safra and HomeTeamNS have the ability to adapt to the growing numbers.
Safra currently has six clubhouses, in Jurong, Mount Faber, Toa Payoh, Punggol, Tampines, and Yishun, while HomeTeamNS has clubhouses in Balestier, Bukit Batok, Chinatown, Khatib, and Tampines.
A Safra clubhouse in Choa Chu Kang is expected to be ready in 2022, while HomeTeamNS will have a sixth clubhouse in Bedok, to be completed in 2022.
“We have a pretty good space, but at the same time we also continue with our security measures to make sure that we not only have the capacity, but we also have enough safe distance,” he said.

The 41-year-old teacher, who has four children between 18 months and 17 years old, said he will register his daughters, ages 17 and 15, as dependents.
“They don’t have to get their parents to take them here, so they can be more independent, so it’s good that they have this opportunity,” said Muhammed Sabri.
Members can register under the new scheme online at the HomeTeamNS or Safra websites, or at the customer service counters in the various clubhouses.
