SINGAPORE: Each household will be able to collect 500 ml of alcohol-free hand sanitizer for free starting April 12, the Temasek Foundation said on Tuesday (March 30).
In a Facebook post, the Temasek Foundation said residents can collect hand sanitizer from vending machines at multiple locations in Singapore between April 12 and 25.
Vending machines can be found at 108 community centers or clubs and at the Temasek Shophouse on Orchard Road.
The disinfectant is produced by the local company Klenco. It has been colored purple to make it look different from drinking water, the Temasek Foundation said in a press release.
Residents will need to bring their Singapore Power (SP) utility bill, as well as their own bottles, for collection. Each resident can bring up to two bottles. Bottles must be less than 23 cm and no more than 11 cm wide.
The SP invoice for March and April, both printed and electronic, will contain a special QR code with the residents’ SP account number.
To start the collection process, residents will need to scan the QR code on the vending machine readers or enter their SP invoice number on the touch screen. Once done, a #BYOB bottle sticker will be generated and residents can pick up their free hand sanitizer.
“Each automatic vending machine will dispense a total of 500 ml of #BYOBclean disinfectant for each household, upon validating the SP invoice, regardless of whether one or two bottles are used,” the Temasek Foundation said in the statement.
This will be the second initiative of its kind by the Temasek Foundation. In March of last year, it distributed 500 ml of free alcohol-free hand sanitizer in community clubs and 16 CapitaLand shopping centers.
The Temasek Foundation also contributed four rounds of free reusable masks.
