SINGAPORE – A married former soccer player met a woman on the online dating platform Tinder, and the couple partied with one of their friends in 2018.

But the fun and joy ended in horror and fear for the date friend when Mohammad Imran Sahib Mohamed Ibrahim Sahib, 38, drove the two women home in his car.

After their date got off at their destination, Imran, who had played for soccer teams Tampines Rovers and Home United, among others, told the then 21-year-old victim to sit in the front passenger seat. .

Later, the father of three children sexually abused her while they were traveling on 6 Ang Mo Kio Avenue.

She, however, managed to escape, fleeing barefoot when he stopped the car to relieve himself on the side of a road, a district court heard during the trial.

Imran denied abusing her, but District Judge Kan Shuk Weng on Thursday (October 22) found him guilty of two counts of sexual abuse. He also convicted him of one count of using criminal force against women.

He was offered a $ 5,000 bond and will be sentenced on November 13.

For each count of sexual abuse, you can be jailed for up to two years and fined or punished.

The victim and her friend cannot be named due to a court order of silence.

Assistant District Attorney Chee Ee Ling, in her court appearance, said the crime took place on March 4, 2018, after the trio left a club called Beacon on Raffles Boulevard around 6 a.m.

As they approached Imran’s car, her date threw up and when her friend expressed concern for her, she grabbed and kissed the victim on the lips.

Despite being sexually abused, the victim got into the car because she didn’t want to leave her sick friend alone with Imran.

DPP Chee further told the court that after exiting Imran’s car at 6 Ang Mo Kio avenue, the “terrified” victim walked barefoot to (her friend’s apartment block) for approximately 1 ½ km. In the victim’s haste, he left her high heels in the defendant’s car. “

He reached the empty deck at 7.17am and waited until 8am before taking a taxi home.

She told her sister what had happened, but did not make a police report until 16 days later, on March 20, 2018, as she was initially concerned Imran would hurt her, DPP Chee said.

The DPP also said that since the incident, the victim “had nightmares of people raping her and once dreamed of committing suicide.”

“To this day, it is clear that the victim is still traumatized by her ordeal as she appeared visibly upset and collapsed four times while testifying in court,” the DPP added.

Imran, represented by attorney Revi Shanker, denied sexually abusing the woman. He claimed that he had used amphetamines and was acting “strangely”, yelling at strangers as the night progressed.
