We’ve all made mistakes and regret the past, and former Mediacorp artist Fiona Xie is no exception.
On the latest episode of the meWATCH Hear U Out talk show, the 38-year-old confessed that she “lacked a sense of responsibility” as a young actress and has regretted it ever since.
“It was only after I started my own company that I realized and understood how difficult things were and how a single decision could affect so many people,” he told program host Quan Yi Fong.
Recalling the time they worked together on various variety shows, the 46-year-old told Fiona, “If the man you are dating has a family reunion that you must attend, then you would fly to Australia the next day and just disappears even though he had a live show to film. “
“People would think he flew so frequently back then that it felt like he was taking a bus,” Fiona joked, laughing.
But it turns out it wasn’t intentional on his part. Fiona said, “I just couldn’t see the big picture.”
Reflecting, he shared, “I didn’t really take advantage of the opportunities that were given me or consider what other people needed or how they were feeling. I’m sorry and I apologize.”
In her relationships, she’s always been the one to sacrifice a lot for the other party, Fiona revealed, explaining that she thinks it’s worth it.
Perhaps because her father wasn’t around when she was little, she yearned to be loved, she shared through tears.
“I want someone to love me and I think there is this desire to receive all the love that I did not receive from a person.”

He said that at the time he was preparing to move to Hong Kong and get married. He also didn’t want her to continue acting. The couple later broke up in 2011 and Fiona was reported to be dating rapper Julien Leo in 2017.
However, their relationship is not the only reason why he disappeared from our screens. Fiona added that it was because she felt tired and did not master the Chinese language.
“I have been in this line of work since I was 19 years old. I am grateful for all the opportunities, but I was also under immense pressure due to my poor Mandarin. I had to memorize lines every day, but I have a bad memory,” he said .
He also did not sleep well at night due to long and irregular working hours. After thinking about it and realizing that she was unhappy, she decided to quit.
After a seven-year hiatus, Fiona finally returned to the small screen in 2016 with the Channel 5 series Left Behind.
She also made her Hollywood debut as Kitty Pong in Crazy Rich Asians, one of her most iconic roles to date, as well as playing Lu Kaixin in 2004’s The Champion, where she raced down Orchard Road in a bikini.
