Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes has called former Old Trafford star and current manager Michael Carrick “incredible.”
Carrick retired as a player in 2018 after a trophy-laden 12-year stint at United. Since then, he has served as a coaching staff for United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
But even though Carrick mostly watches from afar today, Fernandes has revealed that the 39 year old He still looks “cool and stylish” after he briefly participated in a training exercise at Carrington.
The Portugal international also said he is listening carefully to a former player who proved the success of the Premier League and Champions League with United.
“I was looking at training and Carrick was playing because we had missing players and he didn’t miss a pass,” Fernandes told the UTD podcast.
“It’s amazing how fresh and sharp he’s doing the exercises with us, and I was talking to Fred and I was going to say, ‘Hey, watch him play and do the same!’ But I thought it was unfair and didn’t say it! “
“But it was amazing, if someone from outside came to watch training, no one would say that this guy is not playing on the team.
“He is a player who has that quality of passing and also when we need to do some shooting or passing exercises, he is always there helping us with the balls.
“I am learning a lot from him and he is one of the people I like to listen to, because he was a great player, he won many trophies for the club and for me you have to learn from these players.”
Fernandes fitting in well
Fernandes himself has adapted perfectly to life at Old Trafford, becoming one of the first names on the team sheet. In fact, he has contributed to 31 goals in 33 games so far.
