The final touches are all that’s left after Liverpool struck a deal to bring a goal star to Anfield.
The Reds began the defense of the Premier League title with a close 4-3 win over Leeds on Saturday.
But while their title rivals have been busy getting stronger in the market, Liverpool has been relatively quiet so far.
Greek left back Kostas Tsimikas was hired to bolster his left back depth. But the club is expected to turn to promising youngsters like Curtis Jones and Neco Williams to provide more competition for places.
Now another star seems ready to enter the Liverpool mix, after The echo reported that the club agreed to an initial fee of £ 1 million for Marcelo Pitaluga.
The 17-year-old goalkeeper works for the Brazilian Fluminense, with details emerging from Liverpool’s approach earlier this week.
That approach has now been accepted, and the outlet noted that the teen has “said goodbye” to his teammates.
Fluminense is expected to insist on a 25 per cent sale clause within the contract, while an additional £ 800,000 could be paid in future add-ons.
Pitaluga has German citizenship, and this factor is indicated as one of the reasons why the agreement was able to progress smoothly.
