Entertainment and massage outlets in the central area raided during police operations

SINGAPORE – Several public entertainment and massage venues were found to have violated the law following a police raid in the central area.

Fourteen public entertainment venues had violated the COVID-19 (Temporary Measures) Act and / or the conditions of the liquor license, police said in a statement.

Sixteen massage establishments operated an unlicensed massage establishment and five provided sexual services during massage services. Five other massage establishments had violated the 2018 Massage Establishment Rules.

The violations were found during a month-long execution operation by the Central Police Division against public entertainment establishments and massage establishments in Chinatown, Central Mall, Bugis, Jalan Besar and Little India.

Actions will be taken against operators for breaching the rules of the Alcoholic Beverages Control Law, the Massage Establishment Law and the COVID-19 Law (Temporary Measures).

The police also arrested the following people:

  1. Thirty-one women and five men, between 21 and 42 years old, for crimes provided for in the Employment of Foreign Labor Law.

  2. Three women, aged between 25 and 27, were arrested for crimes under the Employment of Foreign Labor Act and the Immigration Act.

  3. A 39-year-old man for using criminal force to dissuade a public servant from the line of duty.

  4. Five women, aged between 28 and 38, were arrested for crimes contemplated in the Women’s Charter.

  5. Four women, between the ages of 30 and 42, for offenses established in the Employment of Foreign Labor Law and the Women’s Charter.
