SINGAPORE – An elementary school teacher is accused of indecent acts with a 14-year-old girl last year.

Micky Ng Chee Siong, 38, whose case was last heard in district court on November 12, now faces three charges under the Children and Youth Act.

There is no gag order on the identity of the Singaporean, although there is on the girl.

The court documents do not establish how they met.

In a statement sent to The Straits Times on Monday (November 30), the Ministry of Education (MOE) said that Ng has been suspended from service since August last year when the police investigation began.

His spokesman added: “The Ministry of Education takes a serious view of staff misconduct and will not hesitate to take disciplinary action against those who fail to meet our standards of conduct and discipline, including dismissal.”

According to court documents, Ng allegedly kissed the girl’s lips in a car on Upper Thomson Road in early April last year.

He is also accused of touching and kissing his upper body sometime between April and June of last year.

Ng is said to have committed similar acts with the teenager on June 3 of last year.

How his alleged crimes came to light was not said.

Ng’s bail has been set at $ 15,000 and he should not contact the girl as part of his bail conditions. Nor should you have any contact with the prosecution witnesses.

The case was postponed until December 10.

For each count, a first-time offender convicted of committing an indecent act against a minor can be imprisoned for up to five years and fined up to $ 10,000.

A repeat offender can be jailed for up to seven years and fined up to $ 20,000.
