Manchester United have finally identified the man they want as football director and could soon make his move, while Tottenham is being linked to a Benfica forward, according to transfer rumors on Saturday.

LUIS CAMPOS DIRECTED BY MAN UTD

Manchester United are set to point to Luis Campos as their football director, according to reports.

United outlined their vision to bring in someone to oversee transfers in the summer of 2019. It feels like United wants someone to come in to help take the pressure off United Executive Vice President Ed Woodward.

Woodward has overseen United’s transfer activity, and much of his business has come under fire. He is also a leading Sky Sports expert Gary Neville to tell Woodward some home truths.

While no appointment was made, resulted in friction at the time between Woodward and then-boss José Mourinho.

Since then, Woodward has continued to work on recruiting United, but always with one eye on appointing a football director.

Now he reports from Canal +, through the Daily express, states that Woodward has finally settled on Luis Campos.

The Portuguese has an extensive resume and is well connected in the game.

He has been a coach for 23 years and worked as a scout for Real Madrid with Mourinho.

AN AWESOME CV

He later flourished as Monaco’s director of football, incorporating such players as Radamel Falcao, Joao Moutinho, James Rodríguez, Fabinho, Anthony Martial and Bernardo Silva.

A parting ways later saw him move to Lille and his draft helped the team finish second in Ligue 1. He played a significant role in the deals to sign Nicolas Pepe, Victor Osimhen and Gabriel Magalhaes. Since then, the trio have secured big transfers and made Lille turn big.

However, a separation in Lille seems likely. Channel + He says he has had a fight with manager Marc Ingla and that United are looking to gain an advantage.

Woodward hopes Campos’s appointment will end a series of failed trade chases. His inability to get players like Erling Haaland and Jadon Sancho has led to many criticisms.

Crucially, United hope that Campos’ appointment can help close the gap with Liverpool and Manchester City.
