Earn Up To $ 22k Per Month As A Manager At Ikea Singapore, According To Job Listing, Money News

Unlike many other companies that have been severely affected by the coronavirus pandemic, Ikea Singapore plans to hire 200 people for its next Jurong outlet, The Straits Times reported.

The store, which opens next year in Jem, will be Singapore’s third Ikea store, with an estimated size of 6,500 square meters on three floors.

On its website, the Swedish giant posted 34 new job vacancies for various positions at its outlets, including Jem’s new outlet. Some of these positions range from customer relations officers to sales managers and interior designers.

What is interesting, however, are the job listings on the government website MyCareersFuture.

The site lists a vacancy for a business manager at Ikea’s new Jurong store, with a monthly salary ranging from $ 5,000 to $ 7,000.

While $ 7,000 is a more than decent paycheck, it doesn’t match the $ 22,000 salary offered for a sales manager position.

Role qualifications

While Ikea didn’t mention which point of sale the sales manager role is to, here are some qualifications you’ll need to have before applying.

According to Ikea, the applicant must have experience as a sales manager in an Ikea store or sales experience in a service office. He or she must be a strong, self-motivated leader with the ability to engage people at all levels.

Assignments include optimizing sales and working with other team members to improve the shopping experience for customers. See the full ratings here.

But hurry up, as applications end on October 25 and there is likely to be stiff competition with 40 applications already submitted.

Covid-19 or not, Ikea goes ahead

Although Ikea Singapore reported a 10 percent drop in revenue from the last financial year, it noted that sales were largely driven by online sales when physical stores had closed.

Christian Rojkjaer, Ikea Managing Director Southeast Asia and Mexico, added: “The Covid-19 crisis changed the way many of us value life at home. In a time of urgent need, people turned to Ikea to establish home offices, study nooks, outdoor living areas and functional kitchens. “

“Our priority is to do everything we can to keep our co-workers and clients safe and move forward, because our vision of creating a better everyday life for many has never been more relevant,” he told The Straits Times.
