SINGAPORE – 11 new coronavirus cases were confirmed as of noon on Sunday (February 28), including one in a migrant worker dormitory.

More details will be announced Sunday night.

On Saturday, the Health Ministry reported that a 64-year-old Singaporean man died of complications from Covid-19 on Friday after contracting the coronavirus while living in Indonesia.

The ministry said on Saturday that the man had been living in Indonesia since March 17 last year and had a history of hyperlipidemia or abnormally high levels of fat in the blood.

He first tested positive for the coronavirus on January 26 while in Indonesia and was hospitalized there the next day.

He was then medically evacuated to the National Center for Infectious Diseases (NCID) here for treatment on January 29. A test taken on January 30 came back positive for the virus.

Of the 12 new cases, 11 were asymptomatic and detected through proactive screening and surveillance, while one, a 40-year-old woman with a work permit from India, exhibited symptoms.

He began developing symptoms on Thursday and tested positive on Friday.

Meanwhile, 13 more cases have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities, and 59,801 patients have fully recovered from the disease.

A total of 15 patients remain in the hospital, including one in critical condition, while 65 are recovering in community facilities.
