Cyclist crashes into car distracted by Yishun crash scene, allegedly flees, Singapore News

As tempting as it is to gawk at accident scenes, it goes without saying that motorists, and cyclists, should keep their eyes on the road.

Unfortunately for a cyclist, those few seconds he spent looking at an accident scene along the Yishun Dam on Sunday morning (December 27) caused him to crash himself. He rear-ended a parked car and sent his own bike flying in a viral clip shared on the SG Road Vigilante Facebook page.

The cyclist then allegedly fled the scene, according to a page update that night.

In the one-minute clip, the rider, who remains unidentified, is seen using his phone as he approached the crash site, where a Shalom Movers truck had mounted a guardrail and was perched at an alarming angle.

As he approached the wreckage, he appeared to point his phone at the scene.

After cycling past the truck, he put his phone away but continued to look back, not noticing the sedan parked directly in front of him.

The cyclist collided with the sedan, with the impact overturning his bike and sending it crashing to the ground.

He then allegedly left the scene, SG Road Vigilante said in a separate post later that night.

The owner of the sedan, who was left with a broken rear windshield, made a police report, according to the page, sharing images of the damage.
