Harry Kane scored his ninth Premier League goal of the season, but Jeffrey Schlupp’s draw and some superb saves by Vicente Guaita left Tottenham frustrated in a 1-1 draw at Crystal Palace on Sunday.
Kane scored in the 23rd minute with a low long-range shot that fooled Guaita as Tottenham started confidently in the drizzle at Selhurst Park.
But Palace responded impressively to dominate after the break and Schlupp grabbed a well deserved leveler from close range in the 81st minute.
Ben Davies hit the crossbar and Guaita made impressive saves from Kane and Eric Dier as Tottenham came back to life late, but had to settle for a point.
Tottenham, leading the league after 11 games for the first time since 1984, went to 25 points from 12 games, one ahead of second-placed Liverpool, who can overtake them with a win in Fulham on Sunday.
Palace is 11th with 17 points.
“I have experience with football and the Premier League, and I told the players what could happen, and it happened,” Tottenham manager José Mourinho said.
