SINGAPORE: A total of 958 patients were discharged on Wednesday (May 13) after recovering from COVID-19, a new daily high, and more than the number of new cases reported in a single day.
In total, 4,809 have fully recovered from COVID-19 and have been discharged from hospitals or community care centers, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said in a press release.

This is not the first time that Singapore reports more discharged cases than new patients in a single day.
On Monday, the MS reported 486 new cases of COVID-19 with 504 more patients discharged. However, the number of new cases was lower that day because fewer tests had been processed, as one of the labs was recalibrating its device for one of the test kits, the MS said.

Of the 675 new cases, 671 are work permit holders residing in residences for foreign workers.
The Health Ministry said it continues to collect many more cases among work permit holders residing in dorms, including dorms converted to a factory, due to extensive testing at these facilities, as part of its process to verify and assess status. of all workers.

Four new cases were also reported in the community: two Singaporeans, including a 73-year-old woman who is currently an unrelated case.
The other case, a 48-year-old man, had been deployed for operations in the CDPL Tuas dormitory. The dorm at 6 Tuas South Street 15 is a COVID-19 group that currently has a total of 309 confirmed cases.
The other two community cases are holders of work passes.
The Health Ministry said that the number of new cases in the community has decreased, from an average of eight cases per day in the previous week, to an average of six per day in the last week.
Of the new cases, 99 percent are linked to known groups, while the rest are pending contact tracking.
