SINGAPORE – Police on Sunday (May 10) dismissed a rumor on social media and text messaging platforms of the National Environment Agency and police officers visiting residential units during Hari Raya to catch people who they ignore the measurements of the circuit breakers.
“Please do not spread false rumors. Please comply with safe distancing measures, including meetings with family or friends who do not live together,” police said in a Facebook post.
This is not the first time that the police have had to dismiss such a claim.
On April 14, police said they were not actively inspecting homes for people who violated circuit breaker rules, but would take action if they encountered such cases in the course of other complaints.
The police statement in April referred to circulating text messages suggesting that they were going door to door to arrest those who had invited people to their homes who were not living with them.
“This is not true. Police urge the public not to disseminate unsubstantiated information that may cause public alarm,” police said in the statement last month.
