SINGAPORE – Nine out of 10 Singaporeans will receive a one-time payment of $ 600 each on Tuesday (April 14), as part of government measures to help families overcome the coronavirus pandemic.

The payment, announced by Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat last Monday and called Solidarity Payment, will be credited directly to the bank accounts of all adults in Singapore.

In February, the Government announced payments of between $ 100 and $ 300 for each adult in Singapore. In March, this tripled to between $ 300 and $ 900, with payments to be distributed from August to September.

Last Monday, Heng, who is also Minister of Finance, said that $ 300 of that payment was advanced to April and supplemented by another $ 300 to form the Solidarity Payment.

Those who qualify for the highest levels will receive another $ 300 or $ 600 in June.

The Ministry of Finance (MOF) said the government had received bank account details from about 90 percent of recipients who previously received payments, including the SG Bond in 2018.

The MOF asked the remaining 10 percent of Singapore adults to provide their bank account details via the secure form Gov.sg – https://go.gov.sg/spsc – by April 23.

Recipients who complete their bank account details by April 23 can expect to receive payment in their bank accounts on April 28.

SingPass access is required for the form.

By providing their bank account details, recipients can receive their payment quickly and safely without having to leave their homes while the circuit breaker measures are applied, the MOF said.

Adults in Singapore who have not provided bank account details by April 23 will receive their payment via checks sent to their registered NRIC addresses in stages from April 30 onwards.

The Government will also provide a one-time payment of $ 300 to permanent residents age 21 and older in 2020 who have a Singaporean spouse, children, or parents.

Long-term visit Pass-Plus holders 21 years of age or older, who are foreign spouses of Singapore citizens, may also receive payment.

Eligible permanent residents can sign up for the one-time payment at https://go.gov.sg/sppr using their SingPass from now until May 10.

Those who provide their bank account details while registering can expect to receive payment directly into their bank accounts on May 19.

Those who do not provide their bank account details when they register will receive stage checks starting in late May.

Eligible long-term Pass-Plus holders will receive their payment via staged checks beginning in late May, and no application is needed, the MOF said.
