With hundreds of cockroaches writhing on her floor, the floor of a Bukit Batok resident practically became the setting for a horror movie, all because she hadn’t sealed her garbage dump before the spraying began.
Images of the infestation in Block 203 Bukit Batok Street 21 appeared on Facebook on Wednesday (November 11), showing the pests all over the kitchen floor.
Some of them seemed to be moving and one was even caught knocking over some cabinets.
The cockroaches had “invaded” the apartment after they sprayed its garbage dump, the All Singapore Stuff Facebook page said.

In a statement posted on Facebook today (November 13), the Jurong-Clementi City Council clarified that notices had been posted on October 22 to inform block residents that the fumigation would take place on November 4.
Residents were advised to seal their garbage dumps with duct tape to prevent vapors and pests from entering their units.
Fumigation is carried out every three months to control the pest population in the landfill, the city council added.
Addressing the video of the infestation, the city council explained: “From our conversation with the resident, we verified that the garbage chute in her unit was unfortunately not sealed, allowing pests to enter her home during the operation.
“We will continue to provide the necessary assistance to the affected resident.”
The spraying left the resident with about 300 cockroaches in her apartment, said opposition politician Chee Soon Juan, who has spoken out about property and maintenance issues in the constituency he unsuccessfully challenged, from delayed improvement works to overflowing drains.
The resident filmed the scene and sent it to him, he wrote in a Facebook post highlighting the issue on Wednesday (November 11) that garnered more than 1,300 shares.
