SINGAPORE – A cleaner working in the Changi Airport Terminal 3 transit area tested positive for Covid-19, one of two cases of local transmission reported on Tuesday (December 1).

She is 66 years old and lives in Yishun with her husband, who is unemployed, the Ministry of Health (MINSA) said in a statement Tuesday night.

She tested positive on Monday and was asymptomatic when tested. His infection was detected through routine tests (RRT) carried out by the Ministry of Health every two weeks of front-line workers.

The patient was taken to the hospital after her test came back positive. His serological test is negative, which likely indicates a current infection, the ministry said.

MINSA added that he uses personal protective equipment at work, which includes a mask, face shield, gloves, and gown, and that the swabs he previously made as part of the TRS were negative.

Epidemiological investigations are ongoing. All of their identified close contacts, including their family members and co-workers, have been isolated and quarantined, and are being evaluated at the beginning and end of their quarantine periods.

The other locally transmitted case was of a dormitory for foreign workers, the first of these after 20 consecutive days without one.

The patient was detected through proactive surveillance, MINSA said. All his close contacts in the bedroom and his workplace have been quarantined.

In all, 10 new cases of coronavirus were reported on Tuesday, bringing Singapore’s total to 58,428.

The remaining eight cases were imported. These consisted of five work permit holders from Indonesia and Myanmar, a work pass holder from Japan, a special pass holder from Indonesia and a one-year-old from Russia with a long visit pass. duration.

All were placed on stay at home notice (SHN) in specialized facilities upon arrival in Singapore. Seven of the eight were asymptomatic and tested positive during their SHN periods.

The special pass holder, a 43-year-old Indonesian man, experienced symptoms on Sunday and tested positive on Monday. He had been arrested by the Coast Guard Police for his alleged involvement in an earlier case, the Health Ministry said.

Two food outlets, Kopitiam and Heavenly Wang at Changi Airport Terminal 3, were added to the list of places visited by Covid-19 patients when they were still infectious.
