A 42-year-old Certis Cisco officer was found with a gunshot wound to the head in East Coast Park on Saturday morning.

Police found the auxiliary police officer around 6.15am near East Coast Park parking lot C2. The pistol handed to the officer was found by his side, police said. Paramedics pronounced him dead at 7.48 am.

On Saturday around 1.30 am, Certis had informed police that the officer did not return his service revolver after his shift ended. This prompted the police to initiate a search for the officer.

Police said investigations are ongoing but do not suspect a crime has occurred.

When asked how long he was employed at the company, Certis declined to provide details about the man.

Deputy Police Deputy Commissioner Julian Chee, who is the assistant police force commander for Certis Cisco, said Certis is assisting police with investigations.

He said: “We are deeply saddened to know that one of our auxiliary police officers has passed away. We are in contact with his relatives and we will offer them our support and assistance at this difficult time.” -THE TIMES OF THE STRAIT
