Changi Airport Group (CAG) chairman Liew Mun Leong decided to hasten his retirement from his commercial and public service duties after the court ruled in favor of his former domestic aide Parti Liyani in a robbery case.
Liew and his family had accused Ms Parti of stealing while working for them in 2016, but the court cleared the Indonesian of all charges in what is seen as a landmark ruling last week.
In a press release published today (September 10), Liew said: “After much deliberation, I have decided to advance my retirement from various commercial and public service roles with Changi Airport Group, Surbana Jurong, the Temasek Foundation and Temasek International with immediate effect.”

The prominent figure from the establishment, which sparked a massive backlash after the trial, added that he and his family members had fully cooperated with the police during the course of the investigations and trial.
He said: “The Superior Court has made a decision. I have faith in our legal system and I respect the Superior Court’s decision.
“I understand that both the Attorney General’s Office (AGC) and the police are conducting reviews of the matter. If necessary, my family and I will continue to provide full cooperation to both AGC and the police. “
Mr. View added that he had made the police report against Ms. Parti after suspecting that she had committed a robbery, as he believed that if “There were suspicions of irregularities, it is our civic duty to report the matter to the police and let the authorities investigate accordingly.”
Ms. Parti was found guilty of four counts of robbery last March and was sentenced to two years and two months in jail. She was acquitted of all charges by the Superior Court last week. In her ruling, Judge Chan Seng Onn stated that the prosecution had failed to prove their case beyond a reasonable doubt.
