The mood of travelers has deflated following the announcement that the air travel bubble between Hong Kong and Singapore has been postponed due to a recent increase in coronavirus cases in Hong Kong.
And so have the balloons installed at Hong Kong International Airport that were supposed to commemorate the occasion.
In a post shared on Facebook on Saturday (Nov 21), what was supposed to be a large arch of gold and silver balloons welcoming travelers to Hong Kong was now sad, sad pile on the ground. Kind of like a heartbreaking interpretation of the How It Started vs How It Goes meme.

The sudden decision, made a day before the travel bubble began, had been based on clear parameters. Still, travelers were quite dejected by the development.
I must say, however, that it is quite a fitting parallel to the whole year so far.

With the Internet being the Internet, there was only one way to deal with the sad sight: with bad puns and jokes.
