SINGAPORE – The two community cases announced on Sunday (January 17) are linked to a Singapore Police Force para-veterinarian who was previously confirmed to have Covid-19, to form a new group with four cases.

The first case, a 44-year-old Singaporean, works as an administrative officer with the police at 2 Mowbray Road, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said. His throat was dry on January 7, but he did not go to the doctor.

The man was examined on Friday (January 15) as part of the Ministry of Health’s special test operations at his workplace after testing positive from his colleague.

His test result came back positive Saturday and he was taken by ambulance to the National Center for Infectious Diseases (NCID).

His relative, a 44-year-old Singaporean woman who is the other case in the community, also had symptoms but did not go to the doctor.

The Health Ministry said he developed a fever and chills on January 9 and subsequently lost his sense of smell and taste on January 13, but had not sought medical treatment.

The Health Ministry contacted the housewife as part of contact tracing efforts on Saturday after her relative tested positive, and she was tested when she reported having symptoms.

Her test result came back positive on Sunday and she was taken to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital in an ambulance.

The serological tests of the two community cases on Sunday came back negative, indicating that their infections are likely current.

Said the Health Ministry: “We strongly urge everyone to do their part to reduce the risk of transmission. People who are not feeling well, including those showing early or mild symptoms, should be socially responsible and seek medical attention immediately and stay home to prevent the spread of disease to others. “

The Health Ministry also announced 28 imported boxes on Sunday, bringing Singapore’s total to 59,113.

The 28 include two Singaporeans and one permanent resident who returned from India, Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates.

Another three are dependent pass holders who arrived from India and the United Arab Emirates, while two are long-term visit pass holders who arrived from India.

Five are work pass holders who came from India, Lebanon, the Philippines and the United Arab Emirates.

One is a short-term visitor pass holder who came from India to visit her son from Singapore.

The remaining 14 are work permit holders from Bangladesh and India, of which one is a foreign domestic worker.

Meanwhile, three new locations have been added to a list of places visited by infectious Covid-19 patients.

They are: Changi Airport Terminal 2 Pass Office, Koufu at Yew Tee Point and Foodfare at Block 673B Choa Chu Kang Crescent.

Individuals can access the SafeEntry Location Matching Self-Check service through the TraceTogether app, SingPass Mobile or on this site to check if they were at these locations during the specified hours, based on their own SafeEntry records.

Overall, the number of new cases in the community has been stable at eight cases per week in the past two weeks.

The number of unrelated cases in the community in one week decreased from five cases two weeks ago to four last week.

With 62 cases discharged on Sunday, 58,831 patients have fully recovered from the disease.

A total of 49 patients remain hospitalized, none in intensive care, while 189 recover in community facilities.

Singapore has had 29 deaths from Covid-19 complications, while 15 who tested positive have died from other causes.
