The Tampines City Council has installed bollards next to a ramp in a block of the Housing Board (HDB) to prevent vehicles from passing while still allowing wheelchair access.
This comes after a Stomp report on August 24, where a woman was seen parking her Audi on the empty deck of Block 324 Tampines Street 32.
A contributor to Stomp He said his father had tried to advise the woman, but she allegedly replied that this was what the block ramp was for.
On Friday (September 4) he updated Stomp on how P bollards have been installed at the foot of the block.
He added: “At least the empty deck is safe from being used as a parking lot.”
In response to Stomp’s inquiry, a Tampines City Council spokesperson said: “The barrier-free access ramp in Block 324 Tampines Street 32 was installed to facilitate the unloading of wheelchair residents.
“The city council has installed P-shaped bollards next to the ramp to prevent the passage of vehicles and, at the same time, allow access for wheelchairs.
“We would also like to take this opportunity to advise all drivers to comply with the Parking Space Rules and to keep our common spaces safe for everyone.”
