SHANGHAI: Chinese state media took an optimistic tone Monday in editorials reacting to Democrat Joe Biden’s victory in the US presidential election, saying that relations could be restored to a state of greater predictability and that trade could begin. .
While acknowledging that the United States is unlikely to ease pressure on China on issues such as Xinjiang and Hong Kong, the state-run Global Times newspaper said Beijing should work to communicate with Biden’s team as fully as possible.

The Trump administration had deliberately created tensions in China-U.S. Relations, especially after adopting a campaign strategy to pressure China, sparking “bubbles” in U.S.-China politics, he said.

“It is in the common interest of the people of both countries and of the international community that the relations between China and the United States become easier and more controllable.”
The Global Times is a tabloid published by the People’s Daily, the official newspaper of the ruling Communist Party of China, but it does not speak on behalf of the party or the government.
