Reports that Mauricio Pochettino will try to sign Lionel Messi if he becomes PSG manager have spooked Barcelona bosses.
Pochettino 48, is a red hot favorite to take over the Parc des Princes after the dismissal of Thomas Tuchel. Tuchel was fired from the Parisians on Christmas Eve despite winning consecutive Ligue 1 titles.
He also guided his team to the final of the 2019-20 Champions League, where they were defeated by Bayern Munich. But it wasn’t enough for the PSG hierarchy, which craves European glory and continued domestic dominance.
The team from the capital is currently second in the ranking of the French top flight. However, they are only one point behind Lyon, the leader of the table, and on their way to defending their title.
It seems that the former Tottenham boss will be at the forefront of that challenge and they want Messi. The Argentine will be out of contract in June 2021 and will be able to speak with other clubs in January.
