SINGAPORE: Three F&B companies on Science Park Drive and Havelock Road received an order to close their facilities and were fined after failing to comply with measures aimed at curbing the spread of COVID-19, said the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) on Monday (August). 31).
The F&B establishments are: Whimsical Bar at 2 Science Park Drive, an adjacent restaurant called Create Kitchen and S-Tripes Hotpot located at 731 Havelock Road.
Both Whimsical Bar and Create Kitchen were fined S $ 1,000, and S-Tripes Hotpot was fined S $ 2,000.
F&B establishments were allowed to resume dinner services as of June 19 in Phase 2 of Singapore’s reopening, but the sale and consumption of alcohol in these establishments is prohibited after 10.30 p.m.
Each group of clients must also be limited to five people or less, with a space of at least 1 meter and without intermixing between groups.
SFA officials discovered that Whimsical Bar failed to implement safe spacing measures between tables and alcohol was served after 10:30 p.m.
“Tables were spaced less than 1 meter apart and groups of more than five people were allowed to sit together and mingle,” SFA said.
The agency added that Whimsical Bar was operating a food establishment “without a valid grocery store license” and was ordered to close immediately until it obtains a license.

The unit adjacent to the bar, Create Kitchen, “violated similar safe handling measures,” the SFA said, noting that this establishment is licensed to operate as a restaurant. Create Kitchen was ordered to close September 2-11.
SFA officers also discovered that the S-Tripes Hotpot restaurant had breached safe management measures on multiple occasions and served alcoholic beverages after 10:30 p.m.
“Staff were not wearing masks or were not wearing them properly despite reminders.
“The sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages was observed after 10:30 pm, and the beverages were transferred to empty teapots and green tea bottles before being served to avoid detection,” SFA said.
The S-Tripes Hotpot restaurant was ordered to close from September 2-11.
Under COVID-19 regulations, first-time offenders will face a fine of up to S $ 10,000, up to six months in jail, or both, the SFA said.
Subsequent offenders can face a fine of up to S $ 20,000, a jail term of up to twelve months, or both.
SFA added that under the Environmental Public Health Act, no person should operate a food establishment without a valid license.
“Offenders will be liable, upon conviction, to a fine not to exceed S $ 2,000 and, in the case of a continuing crime, to an additional fine not to exceed S $ 100 for each day or part of it during the the crime continues after conviction, “the agency said. .
Last week, 10 food and beverage establishments were fined for failing to meet safe distancing requirements.
These infractions include the acceptance of reservations for more than five people, the mixing of large groups at the tables, the breach of the minimum distance of 1 m between the tables and allowing the consumption of alcohol on the premises after 10:30 p.m. hours.
