The Bali administration has made the decision to expand the closure area of one of the three villages in the village of Abuan, the Bangli regency, to the entire village.
The decision was made after rapid tests indicated that hundreds of its residents were likely to be infected with the coronavirus. All villagers are required to stay home, but will receive meals three times a day.
The decision to isolate the entire village, home to 2,640 residents, was made on Friday after the authority put one of the village’s villages, Serokadan, locked up on Thursday.

The administration previously discovered that eight of the village’s residents contracted the virus through local transmission after they reportedly contacted a migrant worker who had just returned from abroad.
Bali Provincial Task Force COVID-19 took 1,200 blood samples from residents of the village on Thursday, of which more than 400 yielded “reactive” results after rapid tests. The team also took swab samples from 126 people, with all negative results on Friday.
“The Sanglah Hospital Laboratory has taken swab samples from 126 residents whose rapid tests show they were reactive with PCR. [polymerase chain reaction] proof. We have already obtained the test results and everything turned out negative, “said the executive chairman of the task force, Dewa Made Indra.
Swab testing is carried out in several phases due to the laboratory’s limited testing capabilities. “On Friday morning, we took another 183 swab samples for the PCR test. We are conducting the test in phases, ”said Dewa Made Indra.
On Friday, additional rapid tests were conducted on 669 residents, and only four people showed “reactive” results.
As of Friday, Bali had 235 coronavirus cases with four deaths. Eight of the total cases were foreigners.
