WINSTON-SALEM, North Carolina: On Tuesday (September 8) President Donald Trump stepped up his efforts to make China a central issue in the US presidential race, accusing Democratic rival Joe Biden of being a “sellout globalist. “which helped shape the widespread loss of American Jobs.
“Joe Biden’s agenda is made in China. My agenda is made in the United States, ”Trump said while speaking to thousands of supporters at an outdoor campaign rally at the Winston-Salem, North Carolina airport.
China has become a flashpoint ahead of the Nov.3 election, when Trump repeatedly accuses Biden of supporting long-term trade policies that led to the offshoring of domestic jobs.
“Biden is a sellout globalist who spent his career sweeping American communities,” said Trump, who follows his opponent in national opinion polls.
Biden, in turn, has criticized Trump for punishing American farmers and other industries with damaging tariffs on Chinese goods.
The former vice president has also criticized Trump’s trade deal with China for failing to deliver the benefits to US industries that the president promised, saying last month that it was “failing – seriously.”

North Carolina is a key breakout state cherished by the Biden and Trump campaigns, one of the few states that could determine the election. It is also one of many states that have seen their manufacturing and textile industries migrate to China and other Asian nations over the past 25 years.
Tuesday’s visit marked Trump’s second in less than a week, as Trump has stepped up campaign trips with less than two months to go.
The president’s campaign has also accused Biden and his running mate, Sen. Kamala Harris, of opposing his administration’s efforts to speed up a coronavirus vaccine, which he said would arrive “very, very soon.”
“They are trying to discredit him,” Trump said. “They are trying to turn it into politics.”

Biden has charged that Trump himself is politicizing the issue to aid his re-election, saying on Monday that with the president’s record of misstatements regarding the pandemic, which has killed more than 186,000 Americans and cost millions of jobs, their assurances about the safety of such a vaccine could not be trusted.
Before Trump’s rally, Biden’s campaign called for any vaccine to be produced and distributed following established scientific standards without outside political interference.
At the rally, Trump also stepped up his criticism of Harris, the first black woman and the first Asian-American in a presidential bid from America’s major parties, in language he has used to describe other female candidates.
“Nobody likes it. She could never be the first female president, ”Trump said. “That would be an insult to our country.”
Biden’s campaign turned down a request for comment on Trump’s comments. Biden did not hold formal campaign events on Tuesday, but he will give remarks in Warren, Michigan on Wednesday about manufacturing jobs in the United States.
