Almost S $ 500,000 in drugs, including the transport of cannabis, seized in the CNB operation

SINGAPORE: Six people were arrested and almost S $ 500,000 worth of drugs were seized during a recent two-day operation, the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) said on Friday (December 18).

The seized drugs included more than 4 kg of cannabis, 466 g of heroin, almost 1 kg of ice, 753 g of ketamine, 105 tablets and fragments of ecstasy, as well as 285 tablets of Erimin-5.

There were also two bottles suspected of containing liquid ecstasy and one bottle of liquid suspected of containing gamma-hydroxybutyrate (GHB).

Suspect and his 2 hiding places

On Tuesday night, CNB agents arrested a 30-year-old Singaporean in a commercial building around Pasir Ris Drive 3.

Approximately 104 g of cannabis, 15 g of ice, 32 g of ketamine, nine tablets and fragments of ecstasy, as well as 11 tablets of Erimin-5 were recovered from a vehicle driven by him.

He was then taken to his hideout in a residential unit around Beach Road, where more drugs were discovered, CNB said.

The next day, the man was escorted to a commercial unit around Macpherson Road, which is suspected to be another hiding place.

Over 3.5 kg of cannabis, 461 g of heroin, 9 g of ice, 29 g ecstasy tablets, and two bottles suspected of containing liquid ecstasy were recovered from the unit, along with various drug paraphernalia.

TRACKING RAIDS

CNB followed up the raid on Macpherson Road with other operations.

The first was in a hotel room around Orchard Boulevard, where officers broke into when the occupants refused to obey orders to open the door, the agency said.

A 33-year-old Singaporean man and a 30-year-old foreign woman were arrested, and a room search discovered 1 g of cannabis, 5 g of heroin, 910 g of ice, 720 g of ketamine, 67 tablets and fragments of ecstasy, 274 Erimin-5 tablets and a bottle of liquid suspected of containing GHB.

The officers also seized various drug paraphernalia and an extendable baton.

In another raid, CNB arrested a 28-year-old Singaporean woman at a hotel near Tyrwhitt Road.

They took her to her residence where officers found 1 g of ice.

A residential unit around Ang Mo Kio avenue 4 was also searched, where four packages containing approximately 64 g of ice and various drug paraphernalia were found.

Agents arrested a 55-year-old Singaporean and a 41-year-old foreign woman believed to be linked to the 33-year-old man previously arrested.

“Both suspects had also refused to comply with the officers’ legal orders, and force was used to enter and effect the arrest,” CNB said.

The seized drugs are enough to fuel the addiction of 595 cannabis users, 220 heroin users and 570 ice users, the agency said.

Investigations into the drug-related activities of all the suspects are ongoing.
